From 1 August 2022, the option to apply for a Bridging visa A (BVA), B (BVB) and C (BVC) in-person or via a paper form will no longer be available. Applications for a Bridging visa A, B or C mu​​st be made online via ImmiAccount or the online webform.​

South Australia will soon be closing nomination applications and Registrations of Interest (ROIs) for the 2021-22 program year but there is still time to apply.

The upcoming program closure dates are:

  • Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) – Business Innovation Stream (Subclass 188A) applications will close at 4pm, ACST, Thursday 9 June 2022
  • General Skilled Migration (GSM) Offshore Registration of Interests (ROIs) will close at 4pm, ACST, Thursday 9 June 2022
  • General Skilled Migration (GSM) Talent and Innovators Program ROIs will close at 4pm, ACST, Thursday 9 June 2022
  • Business Innovation and Investment Program (BIIP) applications for the following streams will close at 4pm, ACST, Monday 20 June 2022
    • Investor Stream (Subclass 188B) 
    • Significant Investor Stream (Subclass 188C)
    • Entrepreneur Stream (Subclass 188E)

To address workforce shortages, student visa work hours have been temporarily relaxed.

This measure takes effect immediately for all ongoing students as well as new student arrivals, including secondary applicants. Students will be able to work before their course of study commences. They will also be able to work more than 40 hours a fortnight in any sector of the economy.

2022-23 program changes – new applications being accepted from people residing overseas – and an expansion of occupations available under the Graduate stream.

​Commencing in the 2022-23 program year people residing overseas are now eligible to be considered for Western Australia (WA) State nomination. Invitations to apply for WA State nomination will be via the ranking system, giving preference to applicants currently residing in WA, followed by those residing in Australia and then those residing overseas.
